To minimise the incidence and impact of dementia through leadership, innovation and partnerships - in advocacy, policy, education, services and research.

Description:
Alzheimer¡¦s Australia provides education, counselling, research, advocacy and services for people living with dementia, their families, treating professionals and ancillary service providers. As the national peak body we work with, and through, a diverse network of organisations in all states and territories. The service mix in each region varies according to need but is typically designed to: „X Improve the confidence, skills and capacity of health professionals and family members „X Facilitate co-operation, knowledge sharing and better service delivery by community and residential providers „X Improve the screening and diagnostic skills of General Practitioners „X Reduce the economic and social costs of treating dementia „X Enhance the policy and legislative frameworks for ageing and health care service delivery „X Increase awareness of risk reduction strategies and the importance of early detection, and „X Alleviate the fear, isolation and stigma often associated with dementia. Alzheimer¡¦s Australia NSW especially provides: „X Education and training for community, residential, health and allied professionals including police, lawyers and financial advisors „X Family and Carer education and training „X Social research and collaboration in clinical research „X Library services „X Early intervention program, Living With Memory Loss, and support groups „X Individual and family counselling „X National Dementia Helpline, information and referral service „X Public awareness and risk reduction campaigns „X Day activity programs
