Mission Statement:
ACT State Emergency Service is seeking a unique group of Volunteers to be part of their newly established
COMMUNITY EDUCATION TEAM.
The role of the ACTSES Community Education Team will be to:
develop educational material
deliver community education presentations and discussions to the ACT community and;
attend displays at shopping centres, employment fairs, festivals and fetes
If you have:
an engaging and friendly personality;
excellent communication skills;
a creative mind;
a desire to educate the community on emergency services; and
suitable availability to contribute to the development of the ACTSES Community Education Team

ACTSES Community Education Volunteers will receive specialised training to equip them for their important role educating the Canberra community on the functions of ACTSES and the responsibilities of the community during storms, floods and other events.

Description:
The main function of the ACT State Emergency Service is to undertake response operations for storms and floods.
The State Emergency Service also undertakes civil defence planning and civil defence operations; assists other agencies, such as the Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance Service in emergencies; and assists the Police and Airservices Australia to undertake operations in relation to searches
The SES provides support for community organisations where this assists the training of SES staff and volunteers, and where there is a definite benefit to the community.
The SES undertakes planning and response operations for storms and floods.
In addition the SES:
- undertakes civil defence planning and civil defence operations;
- supports other services in relation to emergencies;
- supports other agencies in relation to searches; and
- provides support for community organisations where this assists with the training of SES members.
