Bird Observation & Conservation Australia

Mission Statement:
BOCA`s objectives may be summarised as appreciation, education and conservation relating to Australian birds and their habitat.

Description:
Bird Observation & Conservation Australia (BOCA); teaches how to identify wild birds and understand their behaviour, encourages appreciation of the natural world and the joy of observing birds, works to secure valuable bird habitat throughout Australia, leads the movement for planting for birds in home gardens, studies the way in which human activity affects native birds and raises funds for bird habitat conservation. BOCA runs birdwatching activities, outings, camps, interstate and overseas trips, undertakes bird surveys, has an extensive library and retail shop. BOCA provides educational workshops and teaching resources and has an ongoing commitment to, and active participation in, conservation of Australian native birds and their habitats. The Club publishes a bi-monthly news magazine, The Bird Observer, distributed free to all members. In 2005 we celebrated our Centenary with a wide range of special events, displays and awards. BOCA functions as an independent, non-profit environmental charity, which relies on subscriptions, donations, hundreds of volunteers and a small team of dedicated staff.
