Mission Statement:
To serve the community through the provision of volunteer monitoring services on the Australian CB bands, safety communications for community events, and such other communications services or support as may be necessary or appropriate to render assistance to the community, including event first aid and paramedical services.
Description:
ACREM is a volunteer non-profit organisation endorsed as a Public Benevolent Institution and Deductible Gift Recipient. Currently operating in NSW, Queensland and Victoria, ACREM Monitors are trained to monitor the CB emergency channels from their home, and other relevant local CB channels, relaying calls for assistance from the community to the required services. ACREM members can also assist the community through the provision of safety or support communications for community events, such as fun runs, triathlons, etc, and by broadcasting details of severe weather warnings issued by the Bureau of Meteorology. Qualified members can also provide first aid services at events in addition to their safety communications network. Persons over 16 years may join as either Monitors, who are trained in various aspects of radiocommunications and emergency monitoring and can also assist with field or safety communications, or as an Associate which is a non-operational form of membership. Those under 16 can join as Cadets and learn skills in communications, first aid and other practical skills, progressing onto Monitor status on their 16th birthday.
ACREM is currently the only CB monitoring group in Australia that is structured and registered to operate on a national scale. Incorporated in NSW, ACREM is also registered under the Corporations Act 2001 as a Registrable Australian Body (ARBN 118 858 567). ACREM is classified as a Support Unit in accordance with the NSW State Rescue Policy, and has developed a working relationship with many government agencies and emergency services. Ori
